Semmelweis University is proud to introduce the Semmelweis Pannonia In Excellence Scholarship for the 2024/2025 academic year! This merit-based scholarship supports outstanding international students enrolled in English or German-taught programs at the university. Open to students from designated countries, the scholarship rewards academic excellence, as well as achievements in sports and the arts.

The study program is open to international students enrolled in English or German-taught programs at Semmelweis University. Eligible applicants must be foreign nationals from designated countries, have started their studies no earlier than the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, and maintain an active student status.

Semmelweis Pannonia In Excellence Scholarship, Hungary Established in 1769, Semmelweis Egyetem (Semmelweis University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Budapest (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Magyar Felsooktatási Akkreditációs Bizottság (Hungarian Accreditation Committee), Semmelweis Egyetem is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Semmelweis Egyetem offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 250 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 20-30% making this Hungarian higher education organization a very selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants must be citizens of the countries listed in Appendix 1 of the Call for Applications.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in programs taught in English or German at:
  • Faculty of General Medicine
  • Faculty of Dentistry
  • Faculty of Pharmacy
  • Faculty of Health Sciences
  • András Pet? Faculty
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be foreign nationals holding student status at Semmelweis University.
  • Have started their studies no earlier than the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025 and no later than September 2027.
  • Be enrolled in an eligible program taught in English or German.
  • Have at least two active, completed semesters with outstanding academic performance and/or achievements in sports or the arts.
  • Maintain an active student status during the scholarship period.
  • Not be recipients of the Stipendium Hungaricum or the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship.

Offered Benefits

The scholarship is awarded for one year, paid in 12 equal monthly installments. The amount varies by faculty:

  • Faculty of Medicine: HUF 2,000,000 per academic year per student
  • Faculty of Dentistry: HUF 2,000,000 per academic year per student
  • Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences: HUF 1,300,000 per academic year per student
  • Faculty of Health Sciences: HUF 900,000 per academic year per student
  • András Pet? Faculty: HUF 2,900,000 per academic year per student

To receive the scholarship, recipients must have a Hungarian bank account registered in the Neptun system.
