SBW Berlin Scholarships for Foreign Students in Germany Established in 1899, Simmons University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Boston (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Massachusetts. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Simmons University (SU) is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 6,000-6,999 students) women only higher education institution. Simmons University (SU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 120 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 50-60% making this US higher education organization a averagely selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Offered Benefits

During the funding period, SBW Berlin provides all scholarship recipients with a furnished room in one of its shared student apartments. Tuition fees or monthly support are provided depending on the type of scholarship. Further information can be found in the relevant guidelines of the scholarships.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Interested candidates must be registered as a PhD degree student in a recognized university or institute. After admission, seekers can apply for this scholarship through the online application portal.
  • Supporting Documents: It should be noted that a letter of recommendation or a motivational statement is required first. Only after carefully reviewing this letter, outstanding applicants will be granted access to the application form. All application documents must be submitted in English or German. Applicants may submit simple translations of university and school certificates (e.g., transcripts) along with copies of the originals.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must have a high school certificates with a good academic record.
  • Language Requirement: The minimum requirement to apply for a DAAD scholarship normally is an IELTS (band 6) certificate or TOEFL (minimum score 550 paper based, 213 computer based and 80 internet based).
