The University of Melbourne is now accepting applications for the SAFES Travel Award Scheme 2025. This scholarship is designed to support graduate researchers in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences (SAFES) who need to travel for research-related activities such as conferences, fieldwork, lab visits, or internships.

Applicants must be enrolled and confirmed in a graduate research degree within the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences at the University of Melbourne. They must be actively enrolled at the time of travel and have not exceeded the limit of one award per calendar year or two awards in total during their candidature (one for Master’s by Research students).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students in any subject offered by the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Be enrolled in a graduate research degree in the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences
    • Be confirmed in their candidature
    • Be enrolled at the time of proposed travel (travel during leave of absence or after thesis submission is not eligible)
    • Have not exceeded the allowable number of grants (one per calendar year; maximum of two during candidature; one for Masters by Research students).

  • Domestic travel (within Australia): Up to $1,500

  • International travel: Up to $3,000

  • One-time financial support per award
