International students or researchers from all research sectors, such as health, humanities and social sciences, arts and letters, natural sciences, and engineering, are eligible. The students must have applied and been admitted to a Quebec University to be considered. The selected candidates can expect a maximum award of $75,000 for up to 9 semesters.

International students or researchers from all research sectors have a chance to study in Canada with Québec Merit Scholarship Program.Fonds de recherche du Québec: Nature et technologies is a non-profit organization established by the Government of Quebec that promotes and develops research in basic sciences and engineering. It is one of the three Fonds de recherche du Québec. It is one of the major granting organizations for university research in Quebec and reports to the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI).
The Fonds de recherche du Québec: Nature et technologies’ mission is to support and promote excellence in research and the training of the next generation of researchers in the natural sciences, mathematical sciences and engineering to stimulate the development of knowledge and innovation.
Offered Benefits
The selected candidates will be awarded the scholarship based on their course level as mentioned below:
- The annual value of a Doctoral research scholarship is $25,000. The maximum amount awarded is 9 instalments (9 semesters), totalling $75,000.
- The annual value of a Postdoctoral scholarship is $35,000. The maximum amount awarded is 3 instalments (one year), totalling $35,000.
- The value of short-term research or professional development scholarship is $3,000 per month. The maximum amount awarded is 4 instalments (4 months), totalling $12,000.
Application Process
The form may be completed in French or English. Candidates who apply in English must provide a French title for their project.
- How to Apply: Firstly, the students must submit their admission applications on the online portals of their respective universities. Interested students must log in to the FRQnet system to apply for this application

- Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
- A photocopy of the identification page of a passport from the candidate‡s country of origin
- Transcripts – whether completed or not (certificates, diplomas, Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD etc.)
- Acknowledgements of receipt from the publisher for all articles submitted
- Two letters of reference.
- Admission Requirements: The applicants must hold a prior academic qualification, typically a bachelor’s or master’s degree certificate relevant to the course they are applying for and must meet the entry requirements of their respective universities.
- Language Requirement: The applicants must submit scores of PTE, TOEFL, IELTS, etc., tests to prove English language proficiency.
