The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) is offering scholarships for Canadian students. These scholarships are for postgraduate academic and artistic studies in the UK, and are exclusively for students who have already commenced their postgraduate programme of study in the UK.

The CCSF is a UK-registered charity (No. 313966) and is administered by volunteer committee members. Donations can be made directly to the CCSF or through the Maple Leaf Trust, the main sponsor of the CCSF.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for a CCSF award, an applicant must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen: proof of Canadian citizenship is required in the form of a pdf/jpg of your passport details. You may be asked to bring this document with you if you are shortlisted for interview.
  • Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme (or equivalent) and at the time of applying be attending a full-time UK university or similar institution, and have completed at least one term of study, with at least one term remaining from September 2017. (Applicants undertaking a one-year programme are not eligible.)
  • Have very high academic standards.
  • Require funds to complete their studies.
  • Previous applicants may re-apply.

Offered Benefits

The Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund (CCSF) provides awards ranging from £2,000 to £5,000 to Canadian men and women for academic and artistic postgraduate study in the UK.

Application Process

Application must consist of the following supporting documents, all to be submitted electronically

  • The Application Form: This will provide us with your personal contact details, expenditure and income for the 2017 academic year, as well as an overview of your financial need.
  • Proof of Canadian citizenship: Provide a clear photo (.pdf or .jpg) of your passport page (s) showing your photo/date of birth/date of issue.
  • A Personal Statement/Overview: The title and a short precis, not to exceed 500 words and written for a non specialist, should outline the main emphasis of your current studies. You are asked to comment on the impact your work will or may have on Canada and why this award is important to you.
  • A Curriculum Vitae: Provide details of specialised knowledge, technical, training or academic work experience. If your work has been published, please give details. It should be no longer than 2 A4 pages when printed.
  • Transcripts: Copies (.pdf or .jpg) of official transcripts from the most recent completed degree you have completed.
  • References: Two references are required, one of which must be from your current UK supervisor. References are in two parts: a form and a letter. The second part (the letter) must be produced on university/college letterhead, saved as Word .doc/PDF and sent directly by the referee to the CCSF.
