Leiden University’s Faculty of Humanities is excited to announce a Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Arabic Studies and Epigraphy. This full-time position is part of the VICI research project “Land, Space, Power: Landscapes of the Early Caliphate,” funded by the Dutch Science Foundation. The selected candidate will conduct pioneering research into the cultural transformations of the early Arab-Islamic empire.
To be eligible for the position at Leiden University, applicants must possess a PhD degree in a relevant field and demonstrate excellent reading skills in medieval Arabic. Offered Benefits
The successful candidate will receive a full-time, fixed-term contract from 1 March 2025 until 31 December 2027, with a starting salary of €4,492 gross per month. Additional benefits include 8% holiday pay and an 8.3% year-end bonus. Moreover, applicants from outside the Netherlands may be eligible for a substantial tax break.
