The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) is offering Postdoctoral and Research Scientist positions in its Department of Digital and Computational Demography. The roles focus on areas such as migration, population dynamics, health outcomes, climate change, and socio-technological transformations.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a PhD (completed or near completion) in demography, social sciences, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related field. They should have relevant research experience in migration, population dynamics, health, or computational demography, be able to work in interdisciplinary teams, and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, reproducible research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all nationalities.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Positions available in Migration, Population Dynamics, and Computational Demography.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Hold a PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant field (e.g., demography, sociology, statistics, computer science, economics, or related disciplines).

    • Demonstrated research experience relevant to the themes of migration, population dynamics, health outcomes, or computational demography.

    • Ability and willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams.

    • A track record of publications or writing samples.

    • Commitment to transparent and reproducible research; familiarity with open science practices is a plus.
