Academia Belgica is offering two Postdoctoral Research Grants for a six-month stay in Rome. The fellowships provide free accommodation, a monthly allowance of €750, and a travel expense stipend. Priority is given to researchers in the historical sciences, art history, architectural history, and literature.

To be eligible for the Research Grants Academiae Belgicae, applicants must be officially affiliated with a Flemish or French-speaking university in Belgium and hold a PhD obtained no more than 12 years ago. They must demonstrate outstanding academic results and present an original research project that necessitates a stay in Rome.The Academia Belgica is an academic organization founded in 1939 to promote cultural, scientific, and artistic cooperation between Italy and Belgium. It is located in Rome and serves as the seat of the Belgian Historical Institute in Rome and the Princess Marie-José Foundation, which supports historical research.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants officially affiliated with a Flemish or French-speaking university in Belgium.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Priority given to researchers working in historical sciences, art history, architectural history, and literature.
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Hold a third-cycle diploma (PhD), obtained no more than 12 years ago at the time of application.
    • The research stay must start no later than 1 May of the academic year for which the application was submitted.
    • Have obtained outstanding results.
    • Present an original research project that justifies a stay in Rome for the requested period.
