Friedrich Schiller University Jena invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in the development of Al-N? batteries, starting January 1, 2026. The two-year, full-time position (TV-L E13) is part of the Carl-Zeiss Foundation-funded “ReAlBatt” project, focusing on the electrochemical fixation of nitrogen in novel metal-gas batteries.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nanoscience, Materials Science, or a related field and have a strong interest in electrochemistry and metal-gas batteries. They should possess excellent English skills, be open to interdisciplinary collaboration, and show creativity and motivation for high-risk, high-reward research. Prior experience in independent research, programming, or supervising students is an advantage but not mandatory.
