The University of Gothenburg is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Migration, Medicine, and Health to contribute to the Boundaries Longitudinal Study. The position explores the intersection of migration control, medical practice, and ethics through critical ethnographic methods.

Applicants must hold a second-cycle (Master’s) degree or equivalent qualifications and meet the English language requirement (English 6 or equivalent). Candidates must be in the first four years of their research career, must not hold a doctoral degree, and must comply with the MSCA mobility rule, meaning they should not have resided or worked in Sweden for more than 12 months during the three years before the application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities (international mobility required per MSCA rules: no >12 months Swedish residency in last 3 years pre-application).
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Medical Science (doctoral studies in nucleic acid technologies for clinical diagnostics, cancer research). The scholarship will be awarded in subjects offered by the Department of Laboratory Medicine.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • General eligibility: Completed second-cycle degree (e.g., Master’s), or 240 credits (60 at second-cycle level), or equivalent knowledge.

  • Specific eligibility: English B/6 proficiency (or equivalent).

  • MSCA-specific: Within first 4 years of research career (full-time equivalent); no prior doctoral degree; mobility rule as above.

  • Assessed on: Subject knowledge (molecular diagnostics, PCR/sequencing/bioinformatics), research methodology experience, scientific analysis (e.g., publications, thesis).

  • Physical presence required in Gothenburg; residence permit needed if applicable.
