The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp is offering a postdoctoral fellowship in Microbiology, Parasitology, Functional Genomics, or Vector Biology. The research focuses on the interaction between malaria parasites (Plasmodium) and mosquitoes (Anopheles), aiming to support new strategies for malaria control.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Microbiology, Parasitology, Molecular or Cell Biology, or a related field. They should have experience in Plasmodium cultures, molecular biology techniques, and omics analyses. Prior work with insect or mouse models and knowledge of vector-borne diseases and immunology are preferred.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship will be awarded in the following fields:

    • Microbiology

    • Parasitology

    • Functional Genomics

    • Vector Biology

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Hold a PhD in Microbiology, Parasitology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or a related discipline

    • Have experience in Plasmodium tissue culture, genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics

    • Preferably have prior experience in insect host-pathogen models and/or mouse models

    • Demonstrate strong knowledge of vector-borne diseases and immunology

    • Possess excellent scientific writing and communication skills in English.
