The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) invites Swiss students, doctoral candidates, and researchers to apply for the Polish Government Scholarships 2025/2026 under the Zawacka NAWA Programme. The scholarships support part-time studies, research stays, and academic exchanges in Poland across all fields of study.

There are up to 36 Scholarships are open to Swiss citizens who are undergraduate or graduate students, doctoral candidates, or academic staff and researchers not employed by Polish institutions. Applicants must be affiliated with a university or research institute in Switzerland and must arrange their own admission or research stay with a Polish host institution.The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) is a government institution under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. It is dedicated to supporting the internationalization of Polish science and higher education by promoting academic mobility and fostering global cooperation. NAWA offers scholarships, fellowships, and exchange programs for students, researchers, and academic staff from around the world, while also supporting Polish scholars going abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Switzerland

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any field of study or research offered by recognized Polish institutions

  • Admissible Criteria:
    To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be a Swiss citizen (dual nationals with Polish citizenship are not eligible)

    • Be one of the following:

      • Undergraduate or graduate student

      • Doctoral student (as per Swiss higher education regulations)

      • Researcher or academic teacher not employed in a Polish institution

    • University graduates pursuing a PhD in Poland are not eligible for this scholarship but may apply for institutional doctoral scholarships instead

    • Applicants must arrange admission or acceptance independently with their host Polish university or research institute

    • Supporting documents must be in Polish or English (or translated accordingly)

    • Students (for studies or research): 1,800 PLN

    • Doctoral students (for research): 2,500 PLN

    • Researchers/PhD holders: 3,500 PLN

Application Process

  • Complete the official application form and convert it into one PDF document with all required documents (as listed in Section IV of the application form)

  • Submit the complete PDF via email to:

  • swissuniversities forwards applications to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bern for review

  • Recommended applicants will be contacted by NAWA and asked to submit their final application via the NAWA Academic Exchange IT System (by 30 September 2025)
