Offered Benefits

The PhD studentship will be granted on current UKRI levels of support: the UK home fee rate, a Research Training Support Grant (RTSG), and an annual stipend granted for 3.5 years for full-time study or 6 years for part-time study. In 2022/23 the home fee rate is forecasted to be £4,568, a stipend of £15,843, and an RTSG of £5000 over the duration of the study. International students are welcome to apply but would need to make up the difference between the home and overseas fee rates.

  • How to Apply:  To be considered for this opportunity, students are required to take  admission to the PhD degree programme at the University.

  • Two references are signed and on letter-headed paper.
  • Research proposal
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants for a postgraduate research study at Liverpool are generally expected to hold a UK first degree with a First Class or Upper Second Class degree classification or a Second Class degree plus a Master’s degree.
  • Language Requirement:  Students from the UK will generally be expected to have a GCSE in English at grade 4 or above or an equivalent qualification. For students whose first language is not English, the University’s minimum requirements are the IELTS test with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and no less than 5.5 in each sub-test (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) or an equivalent qualification.
