The University of Exeter’s Department of Engineering is offering a PhD Studentship in Exploring Open Source Data to Improve Surface Water Flood Risk Assessment. This exciting project will investigate how emerging datasets can be used to improve flood risk assessment through advanced data analytics, modelling, and scenario analysis.

Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a First or Upper Second Class UK Honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in civil or environmental engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, geography, or a related field. Strong programming skills and research aptitude are essential.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to UK and international applicants.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD project in Engineering, specifically in flood risk assessment and data modelling.

  • Admissible Criteria:

    • Applicants must hold (or expect to obtain) at least a First or Upper Second Class UK Honours degree, or an equivalent international qualification, in civil/environmental engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, geography, or related subjects.

    • Must demonstrate programming skills and experience.

    • Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University of Exeter’s English language requirements.

    • International students are eligible but must self-fund the difference between UK and overseas tuition fees.
