There is a PhD scholarship opportunity to study the use of machine learning technologies in enhancing cybersecurity. The successful applicant will study under the supervision of Dr Suhuai Luo. Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship for research in enhancing cybersecurity using machine learning technologies.

Cybersecurity is related to the protection of systems, networks and data in cyberspace.

It encounters ever-increased challenges including big data to deal with, too few qualified personnel to defend the system on time, too many false positive and fake alarms, and inefficiency in dealing with quickly and constantly evolving nature of security risks.

Machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence that provides computers with the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. It focuses on the development of programs that can teach themselves to grow and change when exposed to new data.

Machine learning has been applied in various areas such as search engine and voice recognition. It has the high potency to enhance cybersecurity because it can efficiently deal with big data, detect real threats quickly, and learn what is appropriate activity and react.

The object of the research is to develop machine learning-based methodologies that deliver an enhanced cybersecurity that can automatically detect, protect and mitigate cybersecurity violation.
