The University of Oslo is inviting applications for PhD Research Fellowship and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Fellowships are available within the project “Nordic hospitalities in a context of migration and refugee crisis (NORDHOST)” are available at the Faculty of Theology.
The main purpose of Research Fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in senior academic positions within their disciplines.

Eligibility Criteria
The PhD candidate should have a competence relevant to the project field from their master thesis. Experience from relevant civil society practices will be an advantage. The research project must address religiously relevant migration issues within a Nordic context. Nordhost will be especially interested in interdisciplinary projects that have both an empirical and a theoretical ambition, addressing the paradox of the guest/host binary mentioned above. Topics related to citizenship, space, ethics, anthropology and gender could be the focus.
Formal requirement:
- A cand.theol.-degree or Master degree in a research area relevant to the Faculty
In the evaluation of the applications, emphasis will be placed on:
- The quality of the project description
- Academic and personal ability to carry out the project within the allotted timeframe and contribute to the NORDHOST project
- good co-operative skills, and the ability to successfully join in academic collaboration within and across disciplines.

The Postdoctoral Fellow shall spend 10% of the workload as a project secretary in cooperation with the project leader and the core group. Relevant experience from academic project development will be an advantage.

The appointment is for a duration of 3 years. All PhD candidates who submit their doctoral dissertation for assessment with a written recommendation from their supervisor within 3 years or 3 ½ years after the start of the PhD position, will be offered, respectively, a 12 or 6 month completion grant.
