Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from all nationalities.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The PhD position will be awarded in areas related to Sustainable Development, Environmental Policy, Rural Sociology, Innovation Science, or Human Geography.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant social science or interdisciplinary field (e.g., Sustainable Development, Environmental Policy, Rural Sociology, Human Geography).

  • Show proven affinity for food system transformation.

  • Have experience with qualitative research methods, preferably in rural or agricultural contexts.

  • Demonstrate curiosity about complex societal change processes.

  • Possess good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Be fluent in English (at least C1 level).

  • Have a good command of Dutch (at least B2), or be willing to attain this within one year (language training paid by the university).

  • Exhibit strong academic writing and time management skills.
