Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is offering PhD Position in Programming Model for Edge to Cloud through Swarm Methodologies for the academic session 2024/2025.

To be eligible for the PhD position, applicants must hold a degree in computer science or a related field and possess experience in distributed computing, runtime systems, and system software. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C, and/or Python is required, along with knowledge of container management platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing facility, renowned for housing MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers. BSC-CNS plays a key role in advancing scientific research by developing and managing cutting-edge information technologies, with a focus on high-performance computing (HPC). It is also a major contributor to European HPC infrastructure, including hosting the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants worldwide
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in the field of programming models for distributed computing, AI, swarm intelligence, bio-inspired algorithms, and reinforcement learning.
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Applicants must have a degree in computer science or a related field.
    • They should have experience in distributed computing, runtime systems, and system software.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C, and/or Python is required.
    • Knowledge of container management platforms like Docker and Kubernetes is preferred.
    • Fluency in English is mandatory.

Offered Benefits

  • Salary: €25,000 for the 1st and 2nd years; €30,000 for the 3rd and 4th years.
  • Duration: 4-year contract
