PhD Fellowships in Computer Science in Norway Established in 1994, Universitetet i Stavanger (University of Stavanger) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Stavanger (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Rogaland.   • Eligible Course or Subjects: PhD degree in computer science offered by the university.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • one or more programming languages and collaborative software development tools (e.g. C/C++, Python, git)
  • C-ITS and CCAM concepts, protocols, standards, and applications
  • risk assessment and modelling, decision support system and vehicular networking

Offered Benefits

The University of Stavanger will provide NOK 491 200 gross per year with salary development according to seniority in the position. A higher salary may be considered in special cases. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must have a strong academic background and have completed a five-year master’s degree (3+2) within a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, ICT, telecom, C-ITS, transportation), preferably acquired recently; or possess corresponding qualifications that could provide a basis for completing a doctorate.
  • Language Requirement: A good proficiency in English is required for anyone attending the PhD program. International applicants must document this by taking one of the following tests with the following results:
  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language, Internet-Based Test (IBT). Minimum result: 90
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing Service. Minimum result: 6.5
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge
  • PTE Academic – Pearson Test of English Academic. Minimum result: 62
