Peking University is pleased to announce the Scholarships program for outstanding international students. Established in 2012, this scholarship supports undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students by providing full or partial financial aid, including tuition fees, stipends, and medical insurance.

To be eligible for the PhD Scholarship, applicants must be international students holding an offer to study as a freshman at Peking University. They must not be recipients of any other scholarships and should not be enrolled in professional degree programs, joint degree programs, or English-taught programs.Established in 1898, Peking University is one of China’s most prestigious and oldest institutions of higher education. It is recognized as a member of the elite C9 League and has played a pivotal role in China’s intellectual movements throughout its history. With over 48,600 students, including around 2,500 international students, PKU emphasizes a comprehensive education system that integrates general and professional studies while fostering interdisciplinary programs.

Peking University Scholarships for Overseas Students in China Established in 1898, Peking University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Beijing (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Education of The People's Republic of China, Peking University (PKU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 35,000-39,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Peking University (PKU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: International students from any country.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is available for any subject offered by Peking University.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Hold an offer to study as an overseas freshman student at Peking University.
  • Not receive any other scholarship funding.
  • Not enroll in professional degree programs, joint degree programs, or English-taught programs.

Offered Benefits

The scholarship is categorized into two types:

  • Full Scholarship: Covers tuition fees, monthly stipend, and medical insurance.
  • Partial Scholarship: Covers tuition fees only.

Application Process

  1. Online Application:
    • Visit the PKU Online Application System at http://www.studyatpku.com.
    • Click on “Scholarship Application” ? “New Student,” complete the application form, and submit it.
  2. Letter Submission:
    • Submit the letter of appeal in person to ISDPKU or mail it before the deadline.
  3. Application Review:
    • The committee will assess applications and submit a list of selected candidates for final review.
    • The final list of successful candidates will be announced.
  4. Annual Appraisal:
    • Scholarship recipients must undertake an annual appraisal in April to retain the scholarship for subsequent years.
