As knowing the power of education, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund is proudly announcing its Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.

Candidates are invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas MSc and PhD Positionsto institutions under its strategic partnership initiative. Nigeria students are eligible to apply.

PTDF is, therefore, a special purpose Fund to train and make available skilled, competent and qualified local manpower for the oil and gas industry. The Fund existed only as a desk in the Department of Petroleum Resources until the year 2000 when it became a fully functional Agency of government.

Eligible Countries: Domestic students can apply for this application .
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in any MSc, PhD program subject offered by the university.
Admissible Criteria: To qualify for a scholarship, Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in France/Germany/China/Malaysia commencing in the 2020/2021 academic session.

Admissible Criteria: To qualify for a scholarship, Successful candidates will be awarded scholarships to study in France/Germany/China/Malaysia commencing in the 2020/2021 academic session.

For MSc:

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience
  • Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  • Must be computer literate
  • Possession of 5 O/level credits including English Language.

For PhD:

  • Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
  • Must be computer literate
  • A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good second-degree certificate;

Application Process

  • How to Apply: For grasping the opportunity, Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the opportunity . Applicants are also expected to upload a NIN Verification Report before completing the application. The report can be obtained from verifyme.ng after then you can start the application process on their scholarship portal (scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng).
  • Supporting Documents: Must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection (sample template of the proposal is available on the program portal ( ptdf.gov.ng); Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach to their online application forms:
    • First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result
    • NYSC discharge certificate
    • WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results as well as the PIN numbers on the application forms to enable PTDF to view the O’level results on the relevant website).
    • Recent Passport Photograph
    • Local Government Identification Letter
    • Master’s Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only)
    • Evidence of membership of professional associations
  • Language Requirements: If English is not your first language then you will need to show that your English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.
