Out-Of-State Tuition Waiver for Brazil Students at University of Florida, USA


The University of Florida and the Florida-Brazil Linkage Institute (FBLI) have designed the Out-Of-State Tuition Waiver Program for Brazilian students who want to complete their higher education for the academic year 2022-2023.

This tuition fee waiver will be awarded to 5 out-of-state students, specifically Brazilian. The applicants must be degree-seeking Brazilian students with an F-1 or J-1 visa with a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered. The scholarship award does not include any funds. Instead, it will provide the selected candidates with a waiver letter that will help them with their tuition fee expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Brazil.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: MA/MS/LLM or PhD study programme can be applied at the University of Florida.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be Brazilian citizens with F-1 or J-1 visa status.
  • The applicants must be a full-time degree-seeking graduate students at UFL.
  • The applicants must agree to return to Brazil for some time equal to the exemption period within three years of their completing undergraduate or graduate study.

Offered Benefits

The winners will be awarded a waiver letter that they take to a designated official at their college, allowing the institution to waive the out-of-state tuition at the University of Florida for the undertaken graduate study programme.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Admission applications must be made via the designated online application portal. All eligible students will be considered automatically.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Course Information Form
  • The Notarized Statement certifying that the applicant will return to Brazil for a period equal to the exemption period
  • One photocopy of your passport photo page (proof of Brazilian citizenship)
  • One photocopy of your I-20 or DS-2019 form
  • One photocopy of your student visa
  • A one-page typed Statement of Purpose
  • One copy of your most recent official academic transcript
  • A copy of an unofficial transcript for review
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • TOEFL (iBT & Home Edition): 80
  • TOEFL (PBT): 550
  • IELTS Academic: 6.0
  • Verbal GRE: 140
