Out-Of-State Freshmen Scholarships at East Tennessee State University, USA for Bachelor Established in 1911, East Tennessee State University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Johnson City (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Tennessee. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Kingsport, Bristol, Elizabethton. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. East Tennessee State University (ETSU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 108 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 90-100% making this US higher education organization a least selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a new ETSU freshman student residing outside of TN - currently enrolled ETSU students are not eligible.
  • Scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 8 semesters (does not include summers)
  • Students who maintain the scholarship and graduate in 4 years will also be eligible for a scholarship to cover tuition and fees for their first semester of graduate school at ETSU.
  • Recipients will live on campus their freshmen year in a service oriented living and learning community and enroll in ETSU 1020 (fall term) and SRVL 1020 (spring term)
  • Students are required to purchase a meal plan.
  • Not a TN resident or a resident of a border county whose residents receive in-state tuition status
  • Recipients must register for and complete 15 hours each semester and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Recipients must complete 40 hours of service and attend all meetings and training sessions (10 per semester). Most students will serve in local public elementary schools with the Governor’s Birth to Books Foundation.

Offered Benefits

Scholarship recipients receive support in an amount equivalent to the out-of-state tuition.
