The North East Doctoral Training Centre (NEDTC), a joint venture between the universities of Durham and Newcastle, is one of the largest and most innovative of the ESRC's national network of doctoral training centres. We are a centre of excellence for postgraduate social science scholarship, offering students a world-class, interdisciplinary environment for doctoral training and research.
As part of our Studentships Competition the NEDTC has available over 40 fully-funded awards for students commencing their postgraduate studies in the social sciences at either the universities of Durham or Newcastle.
The NEDTC is seeking to recruit postgraduate students with outstanding academic backgrounds and research potential.
Applicants applying for a studentship must hold or be predicted a First or a good 2:1 undergraduate degree in the social sciences, or have relevant comparable experience.
A masters is not a prerequisite for studying at the North East DTC. A range of training programmes are available based on an assessment of the applicant’s prior learning and training needs. All studentships can be offered on a full or part time basis.
Additionally, if you are applying for a +3 award then you must also hold or be completing a Masters degree in the social sciences, which includes at least 60 credits of research methods training.
