The aim of the scholarship programme is to offer a 1-month stay at the Nordic Africa Institute in order to facilitate use of the Institute’s library collections on contemporary Africa (books, periodicals, newspapers, and government publications), and to support connection to existing work at the Institute through NAI research hosts. The scholarships are open once per year.

Benefits of NAI Scholarship Program
Applicants will also benefit the following:
- The scholarship covers travel expenses for the least expensive fare from the residential address (in Sweden, Finland, and Iceland) to Uppsala and return.
- Scholarship holders are provided with a desk and computer in a shared office at the Institute.
- Free accommodation is offered in a centrally located area of Uppsala.
- A subsistence allowance of SEK 400 per day is available.
- Free photocopying is available, up to a maximum of 1,000 copies.
Requirements for NAI Scholarship Program
Applicants are to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers pursuing Africa-oriented studies or research in Social Sciences and Humanities are eligible.
- Applicants must be affiliated with universities or research centers in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, or Iceland.
- Anyone can apply
