Newcastle University Eddie and Elizabeth Thomas Scholarship for Bachelor

The Eddie and Elizabeth Thomas MEng Scholarship is provided by Howard Thomas (BEng Chemical and Process Engineering, 1989) to offer scholarship funding for students on an MEng course through their four-year degree for whom finance is a barrier to their learning.

Two scholarships are available to stage 1 undergraduate students taking an MEng degree programme in the School of Engineering.

Newcastle University Eddie and Elizabeth Thomas Scholarship for Bachelor Founded in 1963, Newcastle University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Newcastle upon Tyne (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), North East England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, Newcastle University is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Newcastle University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this award you must:

Be an undergraduate home (UK based) student, entering stage 1 of study in 2022-23.

Have and be able to demonstrate financial need for the award. This could include:

  • Unable to cover basic cost of living;
  • Unable to participate in extra-curricular activities;
  • Having to work in excess of 10 hours per week in a job.

Applications from candidates from widening participation and diverse backgrounds are encouraged.
