The University of Otago, in collaboration with the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, is proud to offer the New Zealand Superannuation Fund Sustainable Finance Scholarship. Valued at $8,000, this prestigious award supports undergraduate students who are passionate about advancing sustainable finance practices.
This scholarship aims to encourage academic excellence and foster future leaders in sustainable investing. It is open to New Zealand citizens and Residence Class Visa Holders who are enrolled (or planning to enrol) in FINC320 Sustainable Investing or in the Sustainable Finance minor at the University of Otago. Selection is based on academic merit, career aspirations, interest in sustainable finance, community involvement, and financial need.

Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Countries: New Zealand
- Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in:
FINC320 Sustainable Investing, or
the Sustainable Finance minor (enrolled in one or more 200- or 300-level papers contributing to the minor)
- Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
• Be a New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand Residence Class Visa Holder.
• Be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in the year of tenure in either FINC320 Sustainable Investing or the Sustainable Finance minor at the University of Otago.
• Demonstrate academic ability and potential.
• Show a genuine interest in the theory and/or practice of sustainable finance.
• Articulate career goals and aspirations related to finance or other disciplines.
• Provide information on employment history and community involvement (such as volunteering).
• Disclose any financial or other hardships that may impact their ability to succeed in their studies.
Offered Benefits
The scholarship provides a financial award of $8,000 to one successful undergraduate student to assist with their studies in sustainable finance.
