Western Sydney University is inviting highly motivated students to apply for its Neuromorphic Cyber Security at the Edge Scholarships in Australia for the academic year 2021-2022.

Funded by the Department of Defence, this application programme is for Australian nationals and students from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, or Canada that undertake a PhD in Neuromorphic Engineering pioneer. Eligible students are those that hold relevant interests and qualifications. The Award is $35,000 per annum for up to 3 years.

Neuromorphic Cyber Security International Scholarships, Australia for PhD Established in 1989, Western Sydney University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Penrith (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), New South Wales. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, or Canada are eligible to apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Students can apply for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree to work with Neuromorphic Engineering pioneers at WSU.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must meet specific Defense-related requirements in relation to citizenship and possible clearances.
  • The applicants must demonstrate research experience in neuromorphic engineering.

Offered Benefits

The selected candidates will receive a tax-free stipend of $35,000(AUD) per annum for up to 3 years to support living costs, supported by the Research Training Program (RTP) Fee Offset. International applicants with a strong track record will be eligible for a tuition fee waiver.

The students will also receive –

  • Support for conference attendance, fieldwork, and additional costs as approved by MARCS.
  • Access to the extensive range of MARCS specialized equipment and laboratory facilities.
  • Additional funding to support training and equipment purchases.
  • A rich environment of support and academic expertise via supervisory panels, seminars, colloquia, international and industry collaborations.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Students must first submit an admission application on the university portal. Then, the applicants must log in and submit an ‘application for project scholarship’ to apply for the opportunity .
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Certified copies of all tertiary graduation certificates and academic transcripts
  • Certified evidence of citizenship status
  • Letter of support
  • Research proposal
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must hold qualifications and experience equal to one of the Australian First Class Bachelor (Honours) degrees, or coursework Masters with at least 25% research component, or a Research Masters degree, or equivalent overseas qualifications in electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 6.5
  • TOEFL IBT – 82
  • PTE – 58
