National Chiao Tung University Elite PhD Scholarship in Taiwan Established in 1958, National Chiao Tung University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Hsinchu (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Hsinchu County. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan), National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Countries: PhD programs open for international students.
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded to study Doctoral degree programs offered by the University.
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible to apply for this award,

  • A newly admitted doctoral student with outstanding academic records and who has not received any other programmes from the Taiwan (R.O.C.) government.
  • The NCTU Elite PhD award is only open for new international students to apply.
  • The candidate should possess an outstanding academic record and has made exceptional contributions to research fields.

Application Process

  • How to apply: If you are interested in this opportunity, then you must have to enroll in a degree program at the university. And when you filling out the admission application form, mark under the “NCTU Elite PhD Scholarship” item on the form to be considered.
  • Supporting Documents: If you wish to participate, you need to submit your transcripts, two letters of recommendation, proof of nationality, confidential financial statement, proof of language ability, proof of Chinese proficiency, proof of work experience, and GMAT/GRE scores.
  • Language Requirement: Each applicant should have to demonstrate the English and Chinese language proficiency for studying at NCTU.

Benefit: National Chiao Tung University is proving up to NT$31,500 (US$1,000) per month with a tuition waiver for their international students.
