Mount Royal University David G. Tallman Memorial Scholarship 2025 for Bachelor Established in 1910, Mount Royal University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large city of Calgary (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Alberta. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Alberta, Mount Royal University (MRU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Mount Royal University (MRU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. This 109 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a full-time student enrolled in any program in the upcoming fall semester at Mount Royal University.
  • Be a single parent.
  • Consideration is given based on financial need and academic achievement.
  • Preference will be given to a single parent who is a widow.
  • To be considered, you need to complete the General Application through your MyMRU account (for current students) or the Applicant tab within MyMRU after applying for early admission (for prospective students).

Application Process

How to apply - current Mount Royal students

If you are currently attending Mount Royal, please follow the steps below to access the online application for In-course awards.

  1. Log into  MyMRU
  2. Select the My Program tab
  3. Under the Financing your education section, select Apply for Awards.

To apply for awards you will need to have a current MyMRU account and Mount Royal email address.

How to apply - prospective Mount Royal students

If you are not currently attending Mount Royal, but plan to attend Mount Royal in the upcoming Fall semester, please follow the steps below to access the online application for Entrance awards.

  1. Apply for Early Admission from Oct. 1 - Feb. 1
  2. An MRU student ID number is required to apply for awards. Your ID will be sent to you by email.
  3. Activate your  MyMRU account if you haven't already (be sure to capture your email address on the last screen)
  4. Log into MyMRU and select the Applicant tab.
  5. Under the Check off all the boxes section, select applying for awards
  6. Once you reach the Sign In page, enter your Mount Royal email address and MyMRU password.
