Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MIPRS) Founded in 1958, Monash University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized town of Clayton (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Victoria. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Melbourne, Gippsland, Kuala Lumpur, Johannesburg. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, Monash University (Monash) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Monash University (Monash) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 61 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

But you are not eligible if you:

  • have already completed a PhD or research professional doctorate, which Monash considers equivalent to an Australian PhD or research professional doctorate
  • have already completed a research master’s degree, which Monash considers equivalent to an Australian research master’s degree, and wish to undertake another research master’s degree
  • have previously held an MIPRS or VMIPRS for more than six months. An exception may be made if you wish to enrol in a PhD or research professional doctorate and your prior award was for a research master’s degree
  • have held an Australia Award scholarship within two years prior to commencing your MIPRS or VMIPRS, unless DFAT (Canberra) grants  an exemption
  • are enrolled or intend to enrol as a research candidate under Monash’s external mode (off-campus) regulations.

Offered Benefits

This scholarship pays tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover for the duration of the scholarship. It does not include an allowance for living expenses but could be awarded together with a stipend scholarship that covers such costs
