Mobility Grant for Norwegian Language and Literature shall facilitate shorter study/research stays in Norway for foreign students. The grant must be used for fieldwork in Norway in connection with thesis for Master or Ph.D. in Norwegian language and/or Norwegian literature. The scholarship is awarded for study stay of one to three months at a Norwegian higher education / research institution.
Applicants must study Norwegian language or literature at Master or Ph.D. level at a university outside Norway. The grant gives an opportunity to visit Norway for research purpose (fieldwork). Many students use the grant to search for literary sources otherwise difficult to retrieve in their home countries, to conduct surveys or to interview people with particular knowledge of their project. Some attend open lectures or participate at seminars. The affiliation with a Norwegian tutor gives the students an opportunity to discuss their project of dissertation with an expert.
The scholarship is awarded for one to three months study stay at a Norwegian higher education/research institution, and should be conducted during the semester periods, but fieldwork during the summer months may also be accepted. The grant does not cover participation at summer schools.
The applicant must find a tutor in Norway with expertise on the applicant’s topic, and who has agreed to guide you during the fieldwork. Ask the home institution tutor for advice or contact the tutor or the Department at the Norwegian institution directly.
