The German Academic Exchange Service supports organizations in the field of international academic co-operation. It includes around 50 information centres and around 450 DAAD lecturer positions. Berlin School of Mind and Brain has been preparing junior scientists for this challenging interdisciplinary work.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Aspirants from Germany and all over the globe

  • Admissible Criteria: To be considered for this education award, the applicant must be the best international student coming to Germany from abroad especially for their doctoral studies or residing in Germany. Candidate must be interested in pursuing the PhD degree program at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain.

Offered Benefits

DAAD support will provide all the following benefits:

  • Instalment of currently € 1,200 per month,
  • Travel allowance,
  • Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover,
  • A research allowance once of currently € 460 per year, under certain circumstances,
  • Grant holders may receive the following additional benefits such as monthly rent subsidy, monthly allowance for accompanying family members (about € 200 child allowance per child and about € 275 marriage allowance), preliminary language course, a material resource and supervision allowance of currently € 1,000 per year.
  • Mind & Brain” financial aid positions will be awarded worth up to € 1,468 per month.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: For receiving this grant, applicants are needed to be enrolling in the PhD degree coursework at Berlin School of Mind and Brain through its online application tool. Once selected by the Berlin School of Mind and Brain for membership in the school, the school’s admission committee will select those international students most suitable for the opportunity .
  • Supporting Documents: Must provide the nomination letter from the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, last final exam (Master’s degree or equivalent).
  • Admission Requirements: All claimants are needed to meet the entry requirements of the school.
  • Language Requirements: If your first language is not English, you will need to provide proof of your English proficiency.
