Mercer Memorial funding for International Scholarship in New Zealand for PhD Established in 1873, University of Canterbury is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Christchurch (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Canterbury. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, New Zealand, University of Canterbury (UC) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Canterbury (UC) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 146 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: International and New Zealand participants are worthy.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Available for pursuing a postgraduate research degree program in the following topics-
  • Computational or experimental fluid mechanics
  • High-performance materials or structures
  • Aircraft economics, operation, control, or communication systems.
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants can apply to both the full-time or part-time bases at the university.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The candidates have to be enrolled in a postgraduate research degree program at the university. After being successfully enrolled in a program, they can complete the online application process for the grant.
  • Supporting Documents: The candidates might be asked to submit their academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, copy of the passport, details of a reference, and language ability proof.
  • Admission Requirements: An applicant must complete a bachelor degree for pursuing this program at UC.
  • Language Requirement: It is expected that all participants have good proficiency in the English language.

Benefits: To fund the student’s education, the bursary will give an amount of $6,000.
