Melbourne Engineering & IT-Indigenous Research Scholarships at University of Melbourne Established in 1853, The University of Melbourne is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Melbourne (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Victoria. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, The University of Melbourne (UNIMELB) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. This 166 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Australian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

  • be an Indigenous Australian citizen;
  • have applied for a Melbourne School of Engineering graduate degree by research.

Offered Benefits

  • 100% Fee-offset.

  • 75% Stipend top-up ~ $54,600 annual Stipend (Living allowance), pro-rata, (2020 full-time study rate), (paid fortnightly), (tax-exempt for full-time study), indexed annually for up to;

    • 2.0 years full-time (4.0 years part-time) - Master by Research degree.
    • 3.5 years full-time (7.0 years part-time) - PhD (Doctoral degree).
  • $10,000 Travel & professional development allowance, per year (pro-rata).

  • $2,000 Relocation grant for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.

  • Full leave entitlements, including paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.

Application Process

There is no application for this scholarship.

Students need to apply for an Engineering and IT Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy by the course's application closing date to be automatically considered for this scholarship.

Melbourne School of Engineering has five application rounds; Round 1 - Due 28 Aug 2020, scholarships will be awarded until exhausted.

Within seven days of having submitted your course application, you will receive confirmation that you will be automatically considered for a range of graduate research scholarships.

If you already have received an offer for a graduate research course and deferred commencement of your course to the following year, or you are currently enrolled in a graduate research course for which you seek a scholarship, you will need to submit an online application form.
