Applications are now open for the Medibank Next_Gen Scholarships at Swinburne University of Technology. These scholarships support international students who are passionate about creating change, demonstrating leadership, and promoting health and wellbeing. Valued at $10,000 for one year, the award is open to international students in their second year or above of an undergraduate degree, or enrolled in a master’s program.

To be eligible for the Scholarships, applicants must be international students enrolled full-time at Swinburne University of Technology. They should be in their second year or above of an undergraduate degree, or studying for a master’s degree in Semester 2, 2025. Candidates must study on-campus, show active involvement in community or leadership activities, and provide a written response or video along with supporting evidence that highlights their commitment to study, engagement in university life, and alignment with Medibank’s values.

Medibank is one of Australia’s largest private health insurance providers, with its headquarters in Melbourne, Victoria. It was initially founded by the Australian government in 1976 as a not-for-profit insurer to compete with other private funds and help keep premiums at a reasonable level. Over time, it transitioned to a for-profit entity and was eventually fully privatized in 2014, becoming a publicly listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for any undergraduate or master’s degree offered by Swinburne University of Technology.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be an international student enrolled full-time at Swinburne University.

    • Be an undergraduate student in their second year or above, or a master’s student in Semester 2, 2025.

    • Study on-campus in an eligible program.

    • Submit written responses to:

      1. What does health and wellbeing mean to you personally as an international student?

      2. How can Medibank best support international students in maintaining their health and wellbeing in Australia?

    • Provide a personal statement (up to 500 words) or a 2-minute video addressing:

      • Interest and commitment to study.

      • University/community involvement or leadership experience.

      • Alignment with Medibank’s values: Customer obsessed, Show Heart, Brilliance Together, Break Boundaries.

    • Upload supporting evidence of community service, extracurricular, sporting, or leadership activities.

Application Process

Applicants must complete the online application form and upload all required documentation (written responses, personal statement/video, and supporting evidence) by 21 September 2025. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
