Materials Engineering: Fully Funded PhD Scholarship at Swansea University Established in 1920, Swansea University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Swansea (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Wales. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, Swansea University is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Swansea University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 99 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should hold a minimum of an upper second class (2:1) honours degree (or its equivalent) in Engineering or similar relevant discipline, preferably Materials, but could accept Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

Mechanical testing and SEM characterisation experience would be desirable. The candidate should have a basic understanding of crystallography and an interest in fracture mechanics and modelling methods.

We would normally expect the academic and English Language requirements (IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5+ in each component) to be met by point of application. For details on the University’s English Language entry requirements, please visit the website for more information.

Offered Benefits

This scholarship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees and an annual stipend of £15,285 with an additional £3,000 per annum for four years.
