Masters Scholarships in Fine Art (MFA)

In October 2015, the Ruskin School of Art starts an intensive, interdisciplinary MFA programme in the practice of contemporary art that is designed to support studio-based and theoretical components of artistic practice.

The course offers you a uniquely demanding and supportive opportunity to engage with what it means to work as an artist today. Your education will be tailored to your key concerns and ideas through Oxford's famed tutorial system of weekly one-to-one dialogues with your tutor. Studio seminars and artist talks further stimulate the collective dynamic of mutual participation in generous and robust discussion. You will be working with Brian Catling, Claire Makhlouf Carter, Maria Chevska, Justin Coombes, Daria Martin, Katrina Palmer, Elizabeth Price and Corin Sworn. Visiting tutors included Thomas Struth, Shirin Neshat, William Kentridge, Maria Fusco and Hito Steyerl.

At the Ruskin School you will benefit from the extraordinary resources of knowledge across the University including the famous Bodleian Library, the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers and Natural History Museums and Modern Art Oxford.

Alumni of Ruskin's graduate programmes go on to work in fine art as practising artists, teachers and art writers, or as curators in public and private galleries and for arts councils and organisations. Many also pursue careers in academia, architecture and the film industry.
