The Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), will provide graduate scholarships to train 120 young African professionals at the master’s level for various programs over 5 years (2025 – 2030). 

This is a fully immersive and traditional on-campus 2-year master’s program with an emphasis on technology and innovation. Recognizing the rapid evolution of the global digital economy, this program aims to equip African youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead in areas such as technology and sustainable innovation.

Mastercard Foundation Scholarship to Study in Arizona State University 2026 Established in 1885, Arizona State University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Tempe (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Arizona. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Mesa, Phoenix, Glendale, Lake Havasu City. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Higher Learning Commission, Arizona State University (ASU Tempe) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Arizona State University (ASU Tempe) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 134 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this US higher education organization a least selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must qualify academically for admission to the degree of their choice that includes English proficiency.
  • Applicants must be a citizen of an African country committed to ethical leadership and demonstrated engagement in their community.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 33 on or before the application deadline.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a track record of leadership and service in their community.
  • Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and ambitions that exceed one's financial resources.
  • Applicants must have earned an undergraduate degree conferred by August 2026.  
  • Applicants must not have started or completed other graduate or masters degrees before August 2026.  
  • Applicants must be able to live in Phoenix, Arizona for the duration of the program.

All applicants must first apply for the scholarship.  Those who are selected to advance beyond the initial review, will be assisted in the process of applying for admission to Arizona State University. Do not apply to admission to ASU
