Ashesi was among the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program’s nine pioneering partners. Hundreds of Mastercard Foundation Scholars have enrolled at Ashesi University since the programme started.

Founded in 2002, Ashesi University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the rural setting of the village of Berekuso (population range of under 2,500 inhabitants), Eastern Region. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana (National Accreditation Board, Ghana), Ashesi University (AU) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 500-999 students) coeducational higher education institution.
