Heriot-Watt University is delighted to announce the Master of Architecture Merit Award for the academic year starting in September 2025. This scholarship is part of the university’s commitment to supporting high-achieving international students in their postgraduate studies.

To be eligible for the award at university, applicants must hold an international or EU fee status and be newly admitted to the first year of the Master of Architecture (MArch) programme starting in September 2025. The scholarship is automatically applied upon admission and cannot be combined with other Heriot-Watt funded scholarships or partner fee reductions.

Master of Architecture Merit Award in UK Established in 1966, Heriot-Watt University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Edinburgh (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Scotland. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All countries outside the UK & Republic of Ireland (RoI)

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the Master of Architecture (MArch) programme.

  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must have International or EU fee status.

    • Applicants must be newly admitted to the first year of the MArch programme commencing in September 2025.

    • The scholarship is automatically applied and is not available in conjunction with other Heriot-Watt funded scholarships (e.g., alumni discount).

    • Students receiving an EU partner fee reduction are not eligible.

  • £3,000 tuition fee discount for each academic year

  • Award valid for a maximum of two years

  • Total value of up to £6,000

Application Process

There is no separate application process. The scholarship will be applied automatically upon admission to the Master of Architecture programme. If the student’s fee status changes after the offer is issued, eligibility for the scholarship will be withdrawn.
