Offered Benefits

The scholarship covers fees plus an annual stipend of €11,000. The scholarship is normally renewable for two years, subject to the scholarship holder submitting high-quality research proposals to external funding bodies and receiving satisfactory annual progress reports. The scheme will require the scholarship holder to complete 120 tutorials per annum.

  • 700-word project proposal with a short bibliography
  • Writing sample in English or German (no longer than 3,500 words)
  • Academic transcripts
  • One academic reference
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must have completed a first degree in German Studies or a related discipline, and have achieved the equivalent of at least an Upper Second-Class Honours / 2H1.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants should be able to provide evidence of a high level of written and spoken German and English (minimum C1+ in both). Experience in language teaching is desirable.
