The Double degree Masters in Global Media and Communications is a unique programme and offers the opportunity to study and gather experience in two cities (London and Los Angeles, Shanghai or Cape Town) with close connections and ties to global media industries.

Successful students will attend 2 top ranking educational institutions, the London School of Economics (LSE) in London in your first year, and the  University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, Fudan University in Shanghai or the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. LSE & UCT Double Degree Masters Scholarships for African Students Established in 1895, The London School of Economics and Political Science is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of London (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 124 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Upper second class honours (2:1) degree or equivalent in social science, or a degree in another field with professional experience in media and communications.
  • You only need to apply to LSE but you must meet both the LSE and UCT entry requirements. 
  • Competition for places at the School is high. This means that even if you meet our minimum entry requirement, this does not guarantee you an offer of admission.

Please note that further announcements on financial support may be made, including regarding students’ second year in Cape Town.

  • Selection for any funding opportunity is based on receipt of an application for a place – including all ancillary documents, before the funding deadline.

You must have completed the LSE Graduate Financial Support Application form AND received an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) by 5pm GMT on 28 April 2022. Therefore applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.
