László Zechmeister Prize in Hungary for PhD Established in 1769, Semmelweis Egyetem (Semmelweis University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Budapest (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Magyar Felsooktatási Akkreditációs Bizottság (Hungarian Accreditation Committee), Semmelweis Egyetem is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Semmelweis Egyetem offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 250 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 20-30% making this Hungarian higher education organization a very selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Hungary
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students conducting research in fields related to chemistry and biology.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Must be a doctoral student or doctoral candidate affiliated with a university in Hungary.
    • Must be conducting research aligned with the theme of the Chemical Biology Work Group.
    • Applicants are required to submit an abstract of their research work, highlighting their research results and communication skills.

  • 1st Prize: 250,000 HUF
  • 2nd Prize: 200,000 HUF
  • 3rd Prize: 150,000 HUF

  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified by November 6, 2024.
  • Presentations will be held on November 15, 2024, at the Zechmeister Lecture Day.
