Students with bold ideas for a sustainable future are encouraged to apply for the KUOS Catalyst Awards 2026. This competition recognizes creative, scalable solutions to environmental, social, and economic challenges from undergraduate and graduate teams.

The awards are open to undergraduate and graduate student groups whose projects are developed during the 2025–2026 academic year, either as part of a course or as an independent student initiative. Projects may be disciplinary or interdisciplinary and must address environmental, social, or economic sustainability challenges.

KUOS Catalyst Awards in Turkey for Bachelor Established in 1997, Istanbul Kültür Üniversitesi (Istanbul Kultur University) is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the metropolis of Istanbul (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the YÖK - Yüksekögretim Kurulu (YÖK - Council of Higher Education), Istanbul Kültür Üniversitesi (IKU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Istanbul Kültür Üniversitesi (IKU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The award will be granted for projects in any discipline or subject offered by the university, including both disciplinary and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students

  • Projects must be group-based and developed during the 2025–26 academic year

  • Projects may be part of a course (e.g., ENGR 491 or similar project-based courses) or an independent student initiative

  • Projects must address environmental, social, or economic sustainability challenges

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged but not mandatory.
