This award was established by Dr. Paul Milos and Mrs. Barbara Milos in memory of their daughter, Kristen Milos (BSc '87) through Foundation Western and is awarded to a student entering first year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

Kristen Milos Medical Award at Western University Canada 2025-2026 for Master Founded in 1878, Western University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of London (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Ontario. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, Western University is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Western University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. This 141 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Awarded to a student entering first year of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.
  • Preference will be given to students whose family address is within the borders of Essex County as verified by the Scholarship and Awards Committee of the Schulich School of Medicine.
  • In the event that Essex County students are not admitted in any one year, the geographic region will be widened to include the Tri-County area (Essex, Lambton and Chatham-Kent).
  • The recipient will continue to receive the award for up to four years provided that the recipient progresses satisfactorily and continues to demonstrate financial need each year. If the recipient fails to qualify for the award, a new student will be selected in the appropriate year.
  • Only one recipient can hold this award at any given time.
  • Candidates must complete an admission bursary application form, which is available online through Student Center, by August 1.
