Konrad Adenauer Foundation provides scholarships to international students hailing from Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia, enabling them to pursue studies at any of the 400 universities in Germany.

This scholarship initiative targets international students and graduates with a university degree, supporting their endeavors in postgraduate or master’s studies, doctoral programs, or research fellowships lasting a minimum of three semesters at a German university.Closing Date for Applications: January 15th, 2024

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Hold a university degree
    • Demonstrate above-average academic performance
    • Age limit of 35 when applying
    • Proficient in German language (B1 or B2 level)
    • Actively engaged in voluntary work
    • Plan to study a minimum of 4 semesters at a university in Germany
    • Possess a broad general education and a distinct interest in political issues
    • Have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights
    • Open to developing personal points of view and practicing tolerance
    • Highly motivated and able to articulate life goals.

    • Proof of voluntary work (if available)
    • Certificate of admission or matriculation from the German university (if available)
  • Admission Requirements: Vary based on Master’s or PhD application
  • Language Requirement: Proficiency in German language (B2) is obligatory for all scholars before the beginning of their university studies in Germany.
