Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation (KCSF) scholarships are awarded annually to exemplary post-secondary students, enabling them to pursue their educational and career aspirations. This exceptional program is made possible by the unwavering support and generous contributions from our donors, who share our vision of nurturing the success of the next generation of leaders

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. They are not a previous KCSF scholarship recipient.

  2. They are enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited post-secondary school during the 2024-2025 academic year.

  3. They are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a student visa.

  4. They are of Korean heritage or are able to evidence a significant and meaningful connection to the Korean community.

Note:

  1. First Year Undergraduate Scholarships – Only students in their first year of undergraduate studies, who have not completed any academic years at a post-secondary school before the current year, are eligible to apply.

  2. Upper Year Scholarships – Any student who meets the above criteria and has completed at least one full academic year at a post-secondary school, either in Canada or abroad, is eligible to apply.

  3. All scholarships are evaluated based on the following categories: Academics, Leadership, Community Involvement, Essay, and Personal Evaluation.

  4. Some scholarships may have additional requirements.

Application Process

Required Documents:

  • Proof of full-time registration at an accredited post-secondary school for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Official transcripts for the last two full academic years (2022-2023 and 2023-2024) from all former and current post-secondary schools or high schools, whether a degree was granted or not. Only official transcripts will be accepted for review. If you were not enrolled in school during 2022-2023 and/or 2023-2024, please provide transcripts for the most recent two full academic years. If you’re unsure, it is better to include transcripts from additional years to ensure evaluators have all necessary information. Applications with fewer than two full academic years of transcripts will not be reviewed.
  • 2-3 reference letters – A minimum of two reference letters are required. One reference letter must be from a professor or teacher. The second letter should ideally come from your place of employment or a volunteer/leadership organization.
    • Reference letters should be written by individuals who have direct knowledge of your character, abilities, attitude, potential, and future aspirations. Hard copies will not be accepted, and letters from family, friends, or relatives will not be considered.
    • Reference letters must be submitted in PDF format. You can either: (1) Directly upload the reference letter on the Online Application Form (preferred method), or (2) Have your referee send the reference letter directly to KCSF via email at , using the subject line: “Reference Letter for [Applicant First Name] [Applicant Last Name] – [School Name]” (e.g., “Reference Letter for John Kim – University of Toronto”). The PDF file of the reference letter should be titled “Reference Letter for [Applicant First Name] [Applicant Last Name] – [School Name], [Referee Last Name]” (e.g., “Reference Letter for John Kim – University of Toronto, Johnson”).
    • Please note that due to the high volume of applications, if the reference letter is not formatted correctly or if the applicant’s name does not match what is listed on the application, the letter may not be correctly attached to the corresponding application. KCSF will not be responsible for any reference letters that are lost due to these errors. If you choose to have the letter emailed, we will not notify you of receipt, so please confirm with your referee that their letter has been sent and received by KCSF by the deadline.
  • Resume (maximum 2 pages) – Outline your education, work experience, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and other accomplishments..
  • Essay – All applicants must submit an essay using the Online Application Form. First Year Undergraduate Students should answer either the Donald Choi Essay question or the General Scholarships Essay question (see the Note below). All other applicants should answer the General Scholarships Essay question.
