The John & Pat Hume Doctoral Awards aim to support outstanding doctoral students across all disciplines at Maynooth University. John & Pat Hume Doctoral Awards in Ireland for PhD Founded in 1997, Maynooth University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the medium-sized town of Maynooth (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), County Kildare. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Skills, Ireland, Maynooth University (NUI Maynooth) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Maynooth University (NUI Maynooth) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants from any country
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Candidates can pursue doctoral studies in any subject offered by Maynooth University
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • Hold a first-class or upper second-class honours bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in the relevant discipline or a cognate discipline approved by the proposed supervisor.
    • For applicants without undergraduate examination results at the time of application, provisional offers may be made pending the achievement of specified degree results.
    • Possess a first-class or upper second-class master’s degree in the relevant discipline or a cognate discipline approved by the proposed supervisor, if not meeting the undergraduate degree criteria.
    • Fulfill English language proficiency requirements for international students.

Offered Benefits

Recipients of the John & Pat Hume Doctoral Awards will receive a generous stipend, research expenses, and coverage of EU fees for a duration of four years. This support is aimed at enabling scholars to pursue their doctoral studies with excellence and contribute significantly to their respective fields of research.
