The John Crook Scholarship offers the opportunity to students to study for a second degree at St John's College, University of Cambridge. This can either be a two-year Bachelor degree as an Affiliated student or a one-year Masters/MPhil degree. All subjects of study, apart from Law and Theology, are accepted.

John Crook Scholarship Established in 1209, University of Cambridge is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Cambridge (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), East of England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Cambridge is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 15,000-19,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Cambridge offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 810 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 10-20% making this UK higher education organization a most selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible, you have to:

  • be the first generation in your family to go to University

  • be a current student, or recent graduate, with an exceptional academic record, from an eligible UK university (the full list of eligible universities is on the website)

  • be a British citizen

Offered Benefits

The John Crook Scholarship is for up to two years (depending on the course), and comprises a maintenance grant at the rate of at least £14,300 per annum plus payment of approved College and University fees.

Application Process

The completed application form should be sent electronically to john.crook.scholarship@joh.cam.ac.uk and a full application pack, including transcripts, sample of academic work and other supporting documents should be posted to St John's College. You should also contact two academic referees to write a reference letter for you. You can download copies of the application and recommendation forms from the website.
